Kelly Ayotte is a bureaucrat, plain and simple. Former Governor Craig Benson used to gush over her at Governor and Council meetings. He would gush so much about her it was embarrassing, frankly.
Bureaucrat Ayotte worked her way into Benson’s gubernatorial heart while her husband was away on deployment, and Benson even gushed about her more while he appointed Ayotte Attorney General.
When she was elected to the Senate, former Senator Judd Gregg had retired and she acquired his political infrastructure without really earning it. It was more like political welfare for the girl who hadn’t really earned her electoral acquisition.
But in 2024 the Manchester political mafia pushed former Manchester Mayor Joyce Craig who was an absolute terrible candidate – even worse that lazy Congressman Chris Pappas – and she lost huge to Ayotte, 55 to 44%.
Now Pappas is forced to run with a new and energized incumbent Governor Ayotte at the top of the NH ballot – if Pappas can even swindle the Democratic Nominee for Senate. And that is not a slam dunk. Not yet.
Pappas is a horrible candidate. While he is willing to suck in some of the shadiest and corrupt special interest money, Pappas needs to sell NH’s interests out to make up for his very low level candidate skill set.
The Manchester Mafia doesn’t seem to have learned their lesson. Instead they are pushing Pappas for the NH Senate seat, a man who is know for his repeated attacks on good Democrats, while Pappas’ radical right wing record in Congress makes his election an almost certain defeat in the general election.
And that makes Ayotte a shoe-in for reelection.
If Democrats want to have a chance at beating Ayotte and holding the Senate seat – as well as the two Congressional seats – they will need a more skilled, and much less corrupt candidate than Chris Pappas. And they will need to turn elsewhere from the Manchester Mafia for their next gubernatorial nominee.
With Ayotte at the top of the ballot, Chris Pappas shall NOT be sworn into the Senate in 1/2029. Unfortunately, Pappas could very well take the other Democratic nominees down ballot with him.
